How to Choose Wedding Catering in Jordan

Key facts

  • Check venue catering and external-supplier rules.
  • Send the same guest range, menu and service brief.
  • Confirm portions, staffing, equipment and setup.

Start with the venue agreement

Some venues include catering or require approved external teams; others provide the space and equipment only. Read the actual agreement for kitchen access, serving areas, electricity, loading, cleaning, waste removal and outside food rules. Ask who supplies tables, plates, cutlery, linens, beverage stations and service staff. If the venue supplies part of the meal, clarify how another caterer would coordinate with it.

This prevents paying twice or discovering a restriction after a deposit.

Give candidates a short shared brief: date, location, guest range, seated or buffet service, approximate service window, children, and any cultural or family preferences. A Jordanian celebration may include familiar dishes, sweets or a separate coffee service, but the right menu depends on the family and the venue. Ask for a proposal that fits the flow rather than choosing the longest list of dishes.

Compare the whole meal and the service

Ask for a written menu with courses or stations, portion assumptions, service sequence, staff count and staff roles. Who replenishes the buffet? Who clears plates? Is food prepared at the venue or brought in, and what is the plan for safe transport and holding temperatures? Who handles late arrivals or a delay in the program?

The caterer should explain its own food safety process; do not infer it from attractive photographs.

Request a tasting where available and relevant. Taste items similar to the proposed event menu, ask how they scale for the guest count, and note any changes in presentation between a small sample and full service. If a preferred dish cannot be served well at the venue, choose a dependable alternative rather than insisting on a menu that strains the kitchen.

Treat dietary needs as a workflow

Ask guests only for information needed to serve them, such as a specific allergy or dietary requirement. Tell the caterer the number and nature of requests by its agreed deadline, and ask how meals will be identified and kept separate.

For a serious allergy, do not promise an allergen-free meal based on a general “we can accommodate” response; get the caterer’s concrete process and discuss the guest’s needs directly. Also confirm children’s meals, vendor meals and water availability if these are part of the plan.

Calculate the real total

Request the quote in JOD with the assumed guest count and an itemized list: food, staff, equipment, transport, setup, taxes or fees if applicable, overtime, tasting, minimum order and cleanup. Ask what happens if the final count rises or falls, whether there is a guaranteed minimum, and when the count becomes binding. Compare offers at the same number and service level.

A lower per-person rate can cost more overall if it omits staff or equipment.

Before signing, check payment stages, cancellation and postponement, substitution of menu items and responsibility if equipment or a supplier is unavailable. Name one contact to confirm the final count and service time. On the final run sheet, include meal start, setup access, catering lead and venue lead. Discover relevant services at Farhetna, then verify the current menu and written terms directly.

FAQ

Common questions

Should we choose a buffet or plated meal?

Compare guest flow, venue layout, staffing and service timing; neither format is automatically cheaper or more suitable.

When do we give the final headcount?

Use the deadline in your caterer's written terms and set the guest reply deadline earlier.

Does a quoted price per person include everything?

Only if the written scope says so. Check staff, equipment, drinks, transport and fees separately.
