How to Build a Wedding Budget in Jordanian Dinars

Key facts

  • Confirm available funds, target and ceiling.
  • Define which celebrations and costs are included.
  • Make a line for every service and unknown fee.

Start with money you can actually use

Record what the couple can contribute, any confirmed family contribution and when each amount will be available. Distinguish a definite contribution from a hoped-for one. If a relative wants to pay for a specific item, note who selects the provider and approves changes; otherwise the same expense may appear in two plans.

Set a target below the maximum so ordinary changes do not push you immediately beyond it. Avoid using expected gifts as money already available to pay deposits.

Set the scope before percentages: is the budget for the wedding reception alone, or also a jaha, henna, attire, rings, travel and a honeymoon? Agree on the boundary so two people do not quote different “total wedding costs.” For a multi-event celebration, give each event its own line and sum them once.

Build a line-item sheet

Use columns for category, provider, estimated JOD, quoted JOD, included scope, deposit due, later balance, due dates, cancellation terms, decision owner and status. Useful categories include venue and food, photography and video, attire and alterations, beauty, decor, entertainment or zaffe, invitations, transport, gifts or favors, and other family events.

Keep a line for taxes and fees if quoted separately, supplier meals, overtime and delivery or travel charges. Do not silently set unknown costs to zero; mark them “quote needed.”

The total commitment is the sum of all agreed full prices, including amounts due after the wedding. Cash paid to date is a separate number. A dashboard showing only deposits can make the event appear affordable while large balances remain. Record receipts and the exact scope beside each payment.

Check each item as you complete it. Add it to your notes app or keep your progress in Favorites.

Use quotes to test the plan

Send comparable providers the same date, location, guest range, hours and required deliverables. Ask for itemized totals in JOD and what changes when the count changes. A venue quote including food cannot be compared directly with room hire alone. If one option has a lower base price but adds furniture, staff or overtime, calculate its complete total.

Check quote validity and hold deadlines without rushing a contract you have not read.

For guest-linked costs, write a formula in the sheet: confirmed people × contracted per-person rate, plus any fixed fees and separately priced extras. Then test the lower and upper guest estimates. This is a scenario calculation, not a claim about typical prices.

Protect a reserve and make tradeoffs

Keep an explicit reserve line that remains unassigned. The amount should fit your risk and spending ceiling; it is not a new shopping category. When a quote exceeds its allowance, first confirm the scope. Then choose among reducing an optional item, changing the service level, adjusting the date or changing the guest count if appropriate.

Do not cut an essential accessibility, food-safety or contractual requirement merely to preserve decoration.

Review the sheet at each booking and monthly thereafter: target, committed total, paid amount, future balances and available reserve. The decision is ready only when both partners understand the full effect. Discover relevant services through Farhetna and obtain current quotes directly; no generic price list can replace an offer for your date and scope.

FAQ

Common questions

How much should we allocate to the venue?

There is no universal share. Compare its complete quote with your priorities and what it includes, then allocate the rest consciously.

Do we count a refundable deposit as an expense?

Track the cash leaving your account and the contractual refund conditions separately; the full service price remains a commitment if you keep the booking.

What if family contributions change?

Recalculate available funds and pause new commitments until the revised ceiling and owners are agreed.
