Wedding Photo Delivery: Timelines and File Formats

Key facts
- Record preview, final gallery and album milestones.
- Confirm file types, dimensions and intended uses.
- Check access expiry, download rules and privacy.
Give each stage its own date
There is no single delivery deadline shared by all photographers. Ask for the schedule attached to your booking, rather than treating a friend’s experience as a promise. A small preview is different from the complete edited collection, and an album may depend on your later selection and approval.
Use separate rows for previews, final photographs, album selection, design review and physical delivery. Write who must act next and how long they have. If the photographer says “after selection,” identify what selection means and when you must submit it. Clarify how a delayed response affects the next stage.
Describe the files you will receive
Ask what file type and image dimensions are included. A filename ending in JPG does not by itself tell you whether the image is suitable for a large print. Tell the photographer what you want to do with the images and confirm which delivered version to use. Ask your printer about its requirements for the planned print size.
If separate versions are supplied for sharing and printing, request clear folder labels. Confirm whether delivered files contain a watermark and whether a password or download limit applies. Do not rely on screenshots from an online gallery as your final collection.
Ask whether camera RAW files are part of the offer if you specifically need them. Do not assume they are included: these files and the photographer’s selected edited photographs are different deliverables. Request clarification of the editing scope and any process for reporting a technical problem or requesting a permitted revision.
Photo delivery check
Check each item as you complete it. Add it to your notes app or keep your progress in Favorites.
Confirm access and album decisions
Ask how the gallery is delivered, when access expires and what recovery options exist. Confirm who may view or download it. Private family images should not be shared through an unrestricted link unless that is your deliberate choice.
For printed albums, confirm size, page count, image selection method and how many design reviews are included. Ask when approval becomes final and what happens if you request changes afterward. A digital gallery deadline is not automatically the shipping date for the album.
Check delivery while help is available
Download the supplied files and open a sample from each folder. Confirm the agreed collection is present and note broken files or missing deliverables. If you expected a particular family portrait, ask whether it exists; an absent image may reflect attendance or the circumstances of the day rather than a download error.
Keep copies in more than one independent location and check that they open. A provider gallery is convenient for access, but confirm its retention period instead of assuming permanent storage. Preserve the original delivered files; use copies for later resizing or edits.
Discover photographers through Farhetna and confirm delivery details with the team you book.
Common questions
When should the final photographs arrive?
On the schedule agreed with your photographer; there is no universal deadline in this guide.
Does a download link count as a backup?
It provides access for its stated duration. Download your files and keep independent copies.
Do we automatically receive RAW files?
No. Ask explicitly and record whether they are included.
